Standards are learning goals that outline what a student should know and be able to do at the end of each grade. These ensure that all students complete their studies with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and life, regardless of where they live.
School of Eden references the following specific standards as guide for its project designs:
The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) are states-developed K–12 science content standards. One of the goals of its development is the creation of research-based, up-to-date standards that offer flexibility to design learning experiences while preparing learners for college, careers, and citizenship.*
The Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts & Literacy establish guidelines to help students learn to read, write, speak, listen and use language effectively in a variety of content areas. The standards promote literacy skills and concepts required for college and career readiness.
The Mathematics Common Core Standards define what students should understand and be able to do in their study of mathematics. It encourages students to solve real-world problems.
